Frequently asked questions

No. Search engines ignore UTM parameters when indexing your pages. They only affect analytics tracking — your landing page URL stays exactly the same from a user and search-engine perspective.

Think of utm_source as the specific place (facebook, google, newsletter) and utm_medium as the type of channel (paid, organic, email). You use medium to group multiple sources together — both facebook and tiktok would have a medium of paid.

When you test multiple versions of the same creative concept, the version number is what separates them in your reports. Without it, all versions look identical and you lose the ability to tell which performed best.

Not at all. They are just text appended to your URL, read once by your analytics script, with zero impact on page load speed or performance.
